Getting Ready for Halloween....

Grace and daddy (who both LOVE Halloween) were very afraid there wouldn't be any Trick or Treating events in Baku. They should not have worried....instead we had too many parties to attend! Our festivities began Thursday after school with all of the other Embassy families at an Embassy party. Friday, all of the kids wore their costumes to school and Friday night the neighborhood the school is in had trick or treating for the kids at all of the houses there. Saturday night, we had our own party. So at least 4 different opportunities to wear Halloween costumes!
Meanwhile, here is a flashback of our past 5 Halloweens!
Their first Halloween! Daddy was away on deployment but I got in the spirit and dressed Grace and Ty in thing one and thing two pajamas and dressed as Cat in the Hat myself. A tribute to Dr. Seuss.

A little later that night I took the kids out in their real costumes....Tyler was appropriately Pooh as he could never get enough to eat. Grace was of course Tigger with her never-ending abundance of energy.

For the twins 2nd Halloween we went the easy route and made them an Ohio State football player and cheerleader. This was back when Gracie would let me put pigtails in her hair, now she likes it down all of the time.
Another great shot of my little Buckeye cheerleader.

For their 3rd Halloween, Grace was obsessed with Jessie from Toy Story 2 so we found a costume at the Disney store for her. She had cute little boots too but hard to walk in and not all that warm either. She loved this costume and often wore it around the house just for fun. Ty wasn't really into Halloween but did like the Cars movie so we got him a Lightning McQueen suit.

For their 4th Halloween Grace decided she wanted to be Izzy from the Jake and the Never Land Pirates show on Disney Jr. Ty actually wanted to be an Angry Bird especially the blue one (still his favorite) but the costumes were so awful. Just picture a gigantic stuffed animal head the size of a beanbag surrounding your child with a head somewhere in there.....we weren't buying it. So he settled for SuperWhy.

My favorite (other than thing one and thing two) so far as been last year's Halloween. For their 5th Halloween Gracie decided she wanted to  be Hermione from Harry Potter. Ty wasn't thrilled but he liked the fact that Harry Potter wears glasses like him. He isn't into the movies as the one time he watched it, he got scared to death from the scene where the troll is in the bathroom. But he went along for good measure and they had a blast being Harry and Hermione instead of Tyler and Grace for a change.
